Two of Japan's largest summer festivals in two days ✔ Watch as festival performers balance 15m bamboo poles adorned with paper anterns ✔ Wear traditional 'Yukata' and walk through forests of Tanabata decorations ✔ Find your inner peace during Zen meditation at a UNESCO World Heritage temple ✔ Dine on local food cooked by a private chef and taste local Japanese sake Experience first-hand two of Japan's largest summer festivals – Akita's Kanto Matsuri and Sendai's Tanabata! Both festivals share their origins in the ancient Chinese star festival, but each has developed into its own unique and exciting personality over the centuries. First up is the incredible acrobatic performance of Akita's 'Kanto Matsuri' (pole lantern festival). Kanto performers carry long bamboo poles (some up to 15m) adorned with lanterns, balancing them precariously on their palms, shoulders, foreheads – you name it – all to the sound of traditional music and taiko drumming. In contrast, Sendai's Tanabata festival is much more subdued but certainly no less colorful! Hundreds of giant 'Fukunagashi' decorations made from traditional rice paper are displayed throughout the city, turning the busy shopping arcades.

About Daito Aiki Jiu-Jitsu Daito Aiki Jiu-Jitsu. This martial art is a palace-style self-defense technique that was originally conveyed only to the senior samurai of the Aizu clan. Until the Meiji era, martial arts was a secret to the public, but it became known to the public by Takeda Sokaku, a native of Aizu. Moving zazen "I can't be slashed. I can't be beaten. I can't be kicked. I can't be kicked." Mr. Komichi Horikawa, a high school brother of Takeda Sokaku, positions martial arts in this way. The goal is not to defeat the opponent, as in the case of match-style martial arts and martial arts, but to enhance one's spirituality. This is the ideal, peaceful philosophy of martial arts. Specializing in zazen teaching, I realized that the ignorance of this martial art was very close to the point of Zen enlightenment. The technique of Daito-ryu Aiki Jiu-Jitsu can be rephrased as "moving zazen". Active martial arts for a lifetime The appeal of this martial art is that it can be learned by anyone, regardless of Ageo/Okegawa or Sex. At present, there are children from kindergarten below and those who have passed Koki above. Mid-Year hard and body in, yet is powerless even I, was able to so much without difficulty learning. Matsushima Bay is famous for its picturesque views of tiny islands dotted across calm blue waters, but many do not realise that the group of larger islands-the Urato Islands-are actually home to many of Shiogama City's townspeople, including local fishermen and oyster farmers. The waters of Matsushima Bay are some of the worlds most fertile for cultivating oysters. So fertile, in fact, that many of Japan's (and even overseas) oyster farms source their oyster 'seeds' from these very waters. In many ways, Matsushima Bay and the Urato Islands are the birthplace of the oysters that end up on our plates all around the world. On this tour, you can experience the life of an oyster farmer by jumping aboard a local fishing boat and watching the harvest process right in front of your eyes! You'll also have the chance to try some huge, juicy oysters straight from the water-they don't get much fresher than this !! Take the rest of the harvest back to shore and enjoy a seafood BBQ as you take in views over the water. Before and after your oyster experience you'll also have time to explore the island itself, learning more about the history and lifestyle of the people who live there and discovering hidden views of one.
