Types of diving licenses
Qualification is indispensable to enjoy diving individually. Of course, even outside Japan, you must have a license for personal diving, which is common throughout the world. The license for scuba diving is called "C card", which is an abbreviation of "Certification Card" and means "certificate". The "C Card" is issued by a private organization and is not a national qualification. However, there are some countries in the world that strictly prohibit diving without this "C card".
There are more than 40 private organizations in the world that issue "C cards". In addition to issuing license cards, it also trains and guides divers, so it is also called a guidance organization. Representative guidance organizations include "PADI", "NAUI", "CMAS", "SSI", and "BSAC". Among them, "PADI" is the world's largest diving instruction organization headquartered in the United States. Even if you say "C card" in a word, its rank varies. Depending on the rank you have acquired, the range and width you can enjoy diving will change. The first rank to get is "Open Water Diver (OWD)". It will be a course to acquire basic knowledge as a diver and skills of basic coping methods in case of trouble or emergency. After the subject course and pool course, you will take the marine course and three stages. Learn knowledge in the department and expand the image of diving. If you have any concerns or doubts, consult with your instructor to resolve them. In the pool class, you will start by practicing breathing in a shallow area where you can reach your feet, and then use a depth of 4 to 5 m to acquire diving skills. And finally, we will finally start the marine training. The environment such as water temperature and waves is different from that of the pool, but if you can master the skills without anxiety in the pool training, you will be able to enjoy the sea to the fullest. Now you can finally pass and get an "Open Water Diver" rank C card. If you acquire "Open Water Diver", you can dive up to a depth of 18m.
If you can get the rank of "Open Water Diver", you can challenge the rank of "Advanced Open Water Diver (AOW)" that you can dive to the maximum depth of 40m for recreational diving. Other license courses include professional class ranks such as "Rescue Diver (RED)" and "Dive Master (DM)". By the way, in order to become an instructor, you need to have the rank of "Assistant Instructor (AI)" or "Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI)".
As mentioned above, if you have a license, you can't love it in every sea. As a general rule, you can rent equipment such as cylinders and weights locally and enjoy it within a set range and time. This is different from marine sports such as surfing and SUP. Since it is a play performed in a special environment such as in the water, it can be dangerous without knowledge.
