Plan description

Growing delicious tomatoes by visualizing the environment inside a greenhouse. At Honda Farm, we practice agriculture using ICT with the support of Komatsu City Hall, JA Komatsu City, and local companies. By visualizing temperature, humidity, CO2, and illuminance, we share information not only with our company but also with local producers. In addition, food waste from local schools and nursery schools is used as compost to create soil that will grow strong and healthy crops. Would you like to visit Honda Agricultural Co., Ltd., which conducts recycling-oriented agriculture and smart agriculture in parallel? *For foreign nationals: Information on the day will be in Japanese only.

Observation of next-generation agriculture using ICT

At Honda Farm, we have introduced ICT to visualize the environment inside the greenhouse with the cooperation of the local community and JA Komatsu City. In recent years, it has become more difficult to deal with the weather, partly due to the effects of global warming. We manage numbers and grow delicious vegetables that are loved by many people.

Vegetables can be grown without soil! ?

Honda Farm is particular about making soil, but in fact, we also use a hydroponic cultivation method that uses rice husks instead of soil. By growing vegetables using hydroponics, it is possible to reduce the burden of agricultural work and prevent continuous cropping failure, which causes poor growth of vegetables. More efficient agriculture is realized by combining hydroponics and environmental management in greenhouses with ICT.

Tomatoes were grown in the greenhouse that you will be visiting this time, but this year the tomatoes got sick. So I decided to switch the vegetables grown in the house from tomatoes to cucumbers. Originally, it is not easy to change the crops to be grown completely, and there are not so many farmers who are using hydroponics for cucumbers compared to hydroponics for tomatoes. It was possible because Honda Farm, which has a track record of growing vegetables that are loved by many people, incorporates smart agriculture using ICT and hydroponics.
