"Smelt fishing experience" to enjoy at Lake Hibara in Fukushima! Complete introduction of recommended plans & shop information!
Nowadays, when the days are getting chilly, I feel the footsteps of winter approaching every moment. The autumn season has just arrived, but it seems that the temperatures in Hokkaido and the Tohoku region are getting colder day by day. In my last blog, I wrote about a tour plan to go to see dolphins swimming in the sea on a boat. However, in the regions east of Kanto, it tends to seem that outdoor leisure activities on the water are unrelated. However, in fact, there are activities that add to the real thrill when it gets cold! That is "fishing" !!
From autumn to winter, the water temperature of the sea, rivers and lakes decreases. Poikilotherms stop their activity when the temperature or water temperature drops, and they stop preying on food or move to warm waters offshore. Since fish are poikilotherms, they are sensitive to the effects of water temperature. Therefore, it becomes less active as the water temperature drops. Then, does it become impossible to catch fish when it gets cold? No, that's not the case. Some fish species are resistant to the cold, so depending on the location and species, you can rather catch seasonal fish. Fat greenling and scorpion fish are typical examples, and it is well known that high-class fish such as yellowtail and flatfish also carry fat. In addition, there are many fish that play an active role as delicious seasonal ingredients with a very increased umami, such as cod and angler fish being used as the main characters in the pot.
From autumn to winter, veteran anglers choose the stance of sticking to the fish they can catch rather than chasing the target fish species. The trick is to select a location, such as an embankment or a ship, and narrow down the target. However, for those who haven't fished much, there are many things that you don't know, "Where and what kind of fish can you catch?" Therefore, this time, we will pick up information that you can enjoy fishing even if you have no experience! Let me explain about "Lake Hibara" on the Urabandai Kogen, where the long-awaited "Wakasagi fishing" season has arrived.
Where is Lake Hibara?
“Hagiwara Lake” in Kitashiobara Village, Sasa-gun, Fukushima Prefecture is a lake belonging to Bandai Asahi National Park. A lake formed by the eruption of Mount Bandai, and is said to be the largest volcanic dam in Japan. The eruption was created by a number of lakes, creating beautiful Goshikinuma. The most famous lake in Urabandai is Lake Sugawara. Beautiful islands float on the lake and the best scenery spreads every season. Cherry blossoms in spring, fresh green in summer, autumn leaves in autumn, snow in winter. “Hagiwara Lake”, which always shows different expressions, is a tourist spot that can be enjoyed just by driving on the lakeside road.
When it gets colder in this "Lake Hibara", anglers come to enjoy the famous activity called "winter tradition". The purpose is, of course, "on ice

It is a guided experience plan that even beginners can rest assured. Participants' first challenge rate is 95%, so even if you don't have any knowledge, a local guide will support you carefully. When you hear "fishing", you should have an esoteric image for inexperienced people. But it's not difficult at all! From the lower grades of elementary school to middle-aged and older people, even women can enjoy it without any problems. Great for your first fishing experience while traveling in groups, families or even couples. In addition, all fishing tools such as fishing rods, gimmicks, and baits can be rented under this plan. Of course, don't worry, the rental fee is included in the participation fee. It is unlikely that you will have a fishing rod while traveling, but this

You can participate empty-handed.
In this plan, after the fishing time is over, the smelt that you moved and caught will be fried. Cooking your own fish will be a valuable experience. It will surely remain deep in your memories of your trip.
By the way, it is a course with a snowmobile or motor boat excursion. The instructor will guide you through the forest road on the shore of Lake Hibara and the frozen Lake Hibara with a dedicated sled. This is also a charm you can't miss ♪

The contents are almost the same as the plan mentioned above, and it is a safe plan that even beginners, regardless of age or sex, do not need tools. The slight difference is that you can take the smelt home as a souvenir after the experience. The content of the plan does not change so much, but it is also attractive because it is possible to have authentic dishes prepared at accommodation facilities and shops that cook.
In addition, depending on the season, an additional option of "ice drilling experience" is available at the reception on the day. You can rent a set of ice drill and ice scooping net and know the fun of opening ice holes by yourself. A sense of accomplishment when opened and the hole

If you do, you will get to know the real thrill of fishing even more deeply.
By the way, I didn't mention it earlier, but both of the plans introduced this time are fishing in a dome-shaped fishing hut. The inside of the dome boat is warm, so even those who are vulnerable to the cold can concentrate on fishing. Also, because it is a style of fishing with a chair and a table, it does not hurt your back. A style that is perfect for middle-aged and older people

Outdoor sports club Bucks
All the plans introduced this time are provided by the outdoor sports club "Bucks". Of course, the biggest feature of "Bucks" is the location. "Urabandai" is a plateau resort area with one of the best natural landscapes in Japan. There are many popular spots in each season. Goshikinuma Pond and Mt. Bandai are typical from early spring to late summer, and Grandeco Snow Resort and Nekoma Ski Resort are typical from late autumn to dawn. Centering around this popular spot, we have prepared plenty of activities to play with. Of course, you can also enjoy the scenic spots such as Mt. Bandai and Lake Hibara, which are 100 famous mountains in Japan. Canoe touring at Lake Hibara, and smelt ice hole fishing introduced this time. In addition, small mouth bass fishing and snowshoe trekking are popular in Lake Hibara and Lake Akimoto.
With the motto "Anyone can easily play in the wilderness", we have prepared many guided experience programs so that you can feel at ease even for the first experience. The plan provided by "Bucks"

Not just. We have introduced a wide variety of other plans at Activity Japan, so please check them out.
Finally
What did you think. I don't think I would have thought about water-related activities when it became cold. However, when I saw the plan provided by "Bucks" this time, I realized that I could still do activities on the water and lake from autumn to winter. In particular, the scenery of fishing huts and tents lined up on a frozen lake seemed to look somewhere in a foreign country.
If you visit during the snowy season, you'll want to experience snowmobiles and motorboats. I think that it is a far-reaching activity for areas where it is difficult for snow to accumulate or where it does not snow in the first place, so if you are interested in the plan provided by Mr. Bucks, you should definitely participate. .. You may be addicted to it as an unforgettable memory ♪
