"Kurami Shibu Uchiwa Making Experience" is an experience to make a traditional Kumamoto Prefecture craft "Kurami Shibu Uchiwa" using fan bones, Japanese paper, and persimmon tannin. If you coordinate with yukata, kimono, and jinbei, you can enjoy summer festivals and hot spring town walks in your own way. It's a big success at home every year. Time schedule

Choose a Fan Design (5 minutes) 2 types of bones and 8 types of Japanese paper. If you choose plain Japanese paper, you can design it however you like with colored pencils.

Let's put Japanese paper on the fan bone (55 minutes) Use starch glue to attach Japanese paper to the front and back of the fan, along the edges and ears. Be careful not to break the bones of the fan and tear the washi paper.

Apply persimmon tannin to the entire fan, and when it dries, you're done! The most distinctive feature of Raitami uchiwa is the use of persimmon tannin. Excellent antiseptic, antifungal, and insect repellent effects. To create a calm and modern uchiwa, apply it carefully.
