At our shop, you can create your own original soot bamboo chopsticks. Soot bamboo refers to bamboo that has been smoked for over 100 years in the smoke of a hearth. The chopsticks you create are highly praised for their non-slip properties and ease of use. They are easy to care for and extremely durable, making them popular with couples and families of all ages. They also make great gifts. Only those who have used them will appreciate the ease of grip and use of soot bamboo chopsticks. Take this opportunity to try them out. Perfect as a keepsake from your trip to Kyoto or as a gift for a special someone, you can take your creation home with you on the same day.
In addition to making chopsticks, we offer a variety of hands-on experiences.
The Japanese miscellaneous goods and bamboo crafts of the Kyoto brand "Waraku", which are carefully handmade one by one, are also popular. Please feel free to come to "Kyomachiya Workshop Waraku", which is right next to Sanjusangendo Temple and within walking distance from JR Kyoto Station.
We can also make custom-made products such as "Kanzashi", "Chopsticks", "Chashaku", and "Earpicks" according to your needs. If you contact us about the length, width, thickness, tip thickness, etc., we will make it and ship it. You can check the completion by e-mail etc. The material is soot bamboo.
