Please come visit our store when you are in the Fuji Five Lakes area. ☆★Introducing Yoshida's udon making experience☆★Yoshida's udon is a local dish of udon that is loved around Fujiyoshida City, Yamanashi Prefecture. It is an unusual type of udon that is characterized by its hard and chewy noodles and toppings such as horse meat and cabbage. It has also been selected as one of the ``Top 100 Local Dishes from Rural Areas, Mountains, and Fishing Villages,'' selected from among the local flavors of each region. Yoshida's udon noodles are characterized by thick and chewy noodles, toppings made with horse meat and cabbage, and a soup made with miso and soy sauce. This is the only place in Japan where you can eat it with a spiciness called suridane. Yoshida's udon was originally a home-cooked dish, so each restaurant has its own characteristics. For example, some restaurants use beef or horse meat, and the sides vary in hardness and length. Although there are general rules, there are no clear rules, so the freedom of making them may also be a characteristic of Yoshida's udon. In this plan, customers will make udon noodles from powder. Enjoy with hot soup and toppings such as cabbage, fried tofu, and wakame. The content is quite extensive, so please come hungry. Our store also offers a dyeing experience where you can experience traditional Japanese dyeing techniques using natural materials, which can be used as a set with the hotou experience. During the dyeing experience, we will explain each step in detail, so even those who are new to dyeing and those who come with children can participate with confidence. The natural feel of natural materials and the fact that you make it with your own hands create a one-of-a-kind product that no one else can imitate. ◆ Recommended for the following people ◆ Those who want to try Yamanashi Prefecture's famous dishes Those who want to try making Yamanashi Prefecture's local cuisine Those who are looking for activities at Lake Yamanaka and Lake Kawaguchi Those who want to experience cooking with their parents and children Plan an experience For those who are having trouble sightseeing on a rainy day Those looking for sightseeing with English support *Due to our reservation system, all reservations are by request, but in most cases You can make a reservation at your desired time. Fujiyoshida City is a highland city located at an altitude of approximately 650m to 850m at the foot of Mt. Fuji. The average annual temperature is 11 degrees Celsius, and the soil is made up of lava flows and volcanic ash from the eruption of Mt. Fuji, making the area unsuitable for rice cultivation. For this reason, they cultivated barley, wheat, millet, millet, and corn, which became the foundation of today's udon culture. During the Edo period, Fuji-ko became popular, and in the northern foothills of Fuji, Oshi-machi and Oshi-no-Ie were built for people visiting Mt. Fuji, such as Yoshida-juku. It is said that udon began to be sold to pilgrims in ordinary residential buildings. As a result of that tradition, there are still many private-style udon restaurants that don't even have signboards or curtains. The weaving industry flourished in Fujiyoshida from the late Edo period to the Showa period. Since this was mainly women's work, it is said that men cooked rice and made udon noodles in place of women who were busy with weaving and sericulture. It is said that this was done to prevent the hands of women working with textiles from getting rough. It is said that Yoshida's udon, which is popular today and is known for its chewiness, hardness, and thickness, was created by kneading the flour with the full force of men's hands.
At our restaurant, we highly recommend not only the Yoshida Udon making experience alone, but also the set menu that includes our specialty chicken tempura and natural dyeing experience. ・Meat set → Yoshida Udon making experience + pork topping + souvenir paste・Specialty chicken tempura set → Yoshida Udon making experience + specialty chicken tempura + souvenir paste・Rice bowl set → Yoshida Udon making experience + choice of rice bowl + souvenir paste (Fujiya original chicken tempura bowl or pork bowl)・Dyeing experience set → Yoshida Udon making + natural dyeing experienceThe most popular set menu is the "Specialty Chicken Tempura Set" ☆ 50% of customers who visit our restaurant order this menu. As the name suggests, our specialty chicken tempura is a chicken breast of about 200g wrapped in a crispy batter and served hot and juicy.

Handmade noodles by customers Make udon noodles from the powdered state. Make the dough by kneading it vigorously so that the noodles are thick and chewy. When cutting, pay attention to the width and thickness of the noodles.
Groups are also welcome Participation in groups such as school excursions, employee trips, and sightseeing tours is also quite exciting.
There are many scenic spots around Mt. Fuji around Lake Kawaguchiko! Lake Kawaguchi, which is near the venue, is visited by many tourists every year as a scenic spot on Mt. Fuji. Please take a look at the beautiful Mt. Fuji before and after the experience.
Take the famous pickpocket as a souvenir In the neighboring town of Fujiyoshida, there is a local dish called Yoshida no udon, and the all-purpose spicy seasoning called "Suridane" is always added to the Yoshida udon. Not only is it spicy, but it also contains umami, so it is recommended for those who are not good at spicy food. Besides noodles, it goes well with rice bowls and stir-fried foods, so if you like spicy food, please take it home as a souvenir.
Time schedule
Arrive at the experience venue Please enter as soon as you arrive at the venue. The venue is decorated in Japanese style.
Explain greetings and experiences First, the staff will give a brief greeting and explain the experience menu.
Make the dough We will make dough one by one from the state of powder. Let's knead the dough powerfully while putting weight on it.
Roll out the dough Once the dough is complete, use a rolling pin to roll it out. The udon dough should be about 3-4 mm thick. If you make it too thin, it will look like a hoto, so be careful.
Cut the dough After you have finished stretching the dough with the rolling pin, use a kitchen knife to cut the dough. Basically, cut the width of the same length as the thickness of the dough.
Boil the noodles After cutting the dough, boil the noodles in a pot. When boiling, we will boil 3 or 4 people at a time. Please note. Please wait for about 10 minutes.
Yoshida's udon is completed The customer's original Yoshida udon is complete. Toppings include cabbage, green onions, fried tofu, tempura bits, wakame seaweed, and chikuwa tempura. (The photograph is an image)
With pickpockets Yoshida's udon is always served with a versatile spicy seasoning called "suridane". As a suridane specialty store, we boast the largest variety of suridane in Japan. Suridane is a perfect souvenir when you come to the Fuji Five Lakes area, so please buy it if you like.
