Plan description

This is a popular hiking project that combines history and nature every season! The tip of Haccho Dejima is called "Teragasaki" and is one of the sacred places associated with Shodo Shonin, the founder of Nikko. It is located on the grounds of Chuzenji Tachiki Kannon-do, a branch temple of Rinno-ji Temple, but we received special permission to go there on a tour! Let's hike along the shores of Lake Chuzenji and through Haccho Dejima, enjoying the magnificent views, towards Teragasaki! From our destination, Teragasaki, a breathtaking view of Lake Chuzenji and Mt. Nantai awaits! Also, at Chuzenji Tachiki Kannon-do, we will view the Kannon Bodhisattva, the principal image of the temple, with the guidance of the temple staff. After that, let's try "shabutsu," which is currently a secret boom! Please spend a moment that will help you forget your daily fatigue. On this tour, after a professional explanation at Chuzenji Tachiki Kannon-do, we will go to Teragasaki, so not only will you be able to enjoy the seasonal scenery, but the stories of the past will also feel more real. It's not just "learning history" or "feeling nature", but a collaboration between the two. We invite you to a journey of seasonal nature and history exploration that will take you to the depths of Oku-Nikko. [Summary] Time: 9:00-15:00 (please arrive with enough time to check in by 8:45) Capacity: Approximately 5-10 people per session Meeting place: Nikko Natural History Museum (please use the nearby parking lot if you are driving) *The autumn leaves are in season from mid-October to mid-November, and the Irohazaka trail starts to get very congested from 7:00 on weekends and holidays. Please arrive with plenty of time to gather. *Measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 infection*The following measures will be taken on this tour. We ask for your understanding and cooperation. 1) Please do not push yourself and refrain from participating if you are feeling unwell. 2) Please make your own decision about whether to wear a mask. 3) Hand disinfection and temperature checks will be conducted as necessary. Please refrain from participating if your temperature is 37.5°C or higher. 4) Guide staff will be required to wear masks indoors.

With special permission, you can enjoy hiking and feel the seasonal winds.

The hiking destination is Teragasaki, the tip of Hacho Dejima, a famous scenic spot often featured in travel magazines and posters, and a sacred place! You will be guided by a nature guide (nature commentator) who loves the nature of Oku-Nikko, and you will be able to enjoy the hiking experience while admiring the magnificent scenery.

A set of Buddha painting experience and viewing of the principal image

Learn about the origins of Oku-Nikko at Chuzenji Temple, which was built by Shodo Shonin, the founder of Oku-Nikko. In addition to touring the temple, you can also experience copying Buddhist images, which is not a form of sutra copying. Copying Buddhist images involves tracing the image of the Kannon Bodhisattva, drawn in light ink, with a brush pen to complete the work. This is recommended even for those who are not good at writing! You will also receive a special goshuin stamp written on white gold colored paper.

A guide will accompany you throughout the entire trip!

The tour will be conducted in a small group of one person. Please feel free to join us as we promise to provide you with the best possible care.
