Please come visit our store when you are in the Fuji Five Lakes area. Why not try making Oshino Hakkai soba noodles using melted snow from Mt. Fuji as a memory of your trip to Yamanashi Prefecture? This is an experience of making traditional Japanese cuisine that has a long history. Oshino Hakkai is a tourist destination with eight ponds fed by Mt. Fuji's spring water. The pond formed by spring water is highly transparent and has been selected as one of the top 100 famous waters, making Oshino Hakkai a very popular spot for delicious seafood. There are many soba making experiences all over Japan, but this is the only place where you can eat soba made with Mt. Fuji spring water. Anyone can easily make Oshino Hakkai soba. In this experience, even those who are new to cooking, such as those who are not familiar with cooking, small children, and those who have never made soba, can participate with confidence. Among the customers who have participated so far, many have made reservations for groups such as family and friends, and the more people there, the more exciting it will be. Not only children but also adults can enjoy the extraordinary work of making noodles. Our store also offers a dyeing experience where you can experience traditional Japanese dyeing techniques using natural materials, which can be used as a set with the hotou experience. During the dyeing experience, we will explain each step in detail, so even those who are new to dyeing and those who come with children can participate with confidence. The natural feel of natural materials and the fact that you make it with your own hands create a one-of-a-kind product that no one else can imitate. ◆ Recommended for the following people ◆ Those who want to try Yamanashi Prefecture's famous dishes Those who want to try making Yamanashi Prefecture's local cuisine Those who are looking for activities at Lake Yamanaka and Lake Kawaguchi Those who want to experience cooking with their parents and children Plan an experience project If you are looking for someone who is having trouble sightseeing on a rainy day If you are looking for sightseeing with English support *Due to our reservation system, all reservations are by request, but in most cases You can make a reservation at your desired time. We make delicious soba using underground water from Mt. Fuji. The soba dough is kneaded and shaped from powder, and then rolled out using a rolling pin. Children as well as adults can enjoy an extraordinary experience. Soba is a little more difficult to make than udon or hoto. Compared to udon and hoto, the dough for soba is thinner, and the noodles need to be cut into thinner pieces. Therefore, it may break into small pieces during the boiling time. In order to make it as difficult as possible to tear it into pieces while boiling, there are conditions such as mixing the flour and water quickly and evenly, making the dough and kneading it thoroughly, and rolling out and cutting it quickly. Our staff will support you, so let's do our best together.
At our restaurant, we highly recommend not only the Oshino Hakkai soba making experience alone, but also the set menu that includes the specialty chicken tempura and natural dyeing experience. ・Meat set → Oshino Hakkai soba making experience + pork topping + souvenir paste・Specialty chicken tempura set → Oshino Hakkai soba making experience + specialty chicken tempura + souvenir paste・Rice bowl set → Oshino Hakkai soba making experience + choice of bowl + souvenir paste (Fujiya original chicken tempura bowl or pork bowl)・Dyeing experience set → Oshino Hakkai soba making experience + natural dyeing experienceThe most popular set menu is the "Specialty Chicken Tempura Set" ☆ 50% of customers who visit the restaurant order this menu. As the name suggests, the specialty chicken tempura is a chicken breast of about 200g wrapped in a crispy batter and served hot and juicy.
The local cooking experience class "Fujiya" is used by many beginners of cooking and small children, and is used in a variety of situations. We also have a lot of fun when participating in groups such as school trips, company trips, sightseeing tours, schools, and overseas tours. We also have staff who can speak English, so customers from overseas are also very welcome.

Handmade noodles by customers The soba noodles made by the customer are made by hand from the powdered state. Soba noodles are easy to tear if you don't take the time to do each one, but the noodles that you try hard to beat are exceptionally delicious.
Groups are also welcome Participation in groups such as school excursions, employee trips, and sightseeing tours is also quite exciting.
Oshino Hakkai is a famous tourist destination Oshino Hakkai Soba is named after the world heritage site Oshino Hakkai. The eight ponds in Oshino Hakkai are made from the spring water of Mt. Fuji, and are called Oshino Hakkai Soba because they are made using the beautiful spring water of Mt. Fuji. It is also registered as a constituent asset of Mt. Fuji World Cultural Heritage and is visited by many tourists. It is about 20 to 30 minutes by car from the experience venue. Please stop by before and after the experience.
Take the famous pickpocket as a souvenir In the neighboring town of Fujiyoshida, there is a local dish called Yoshida no udon, and the all-purpose spicy seasoning called "Suridane" is always added to the Yoshida udon. Not only is it spicy, but it also contains umami, so it is recommended for those who are not good at spicy food. Besides noodles, it goes well with rice bowls and stir-fried foods, so if you like spicy food, please take it home as a souvenir.
Time schedule
Arrive at the experience venue Please come to the venue 10 minutes before the start of the experience. Please contact us in advance if your arrival is delayed, as there are reservations available. The Fuji family store is a traditional Japanese house. As soon as you arrive, we will wash your hands at the entrance and guide you to the experience venue.
Watch video Before making Oshino Hachikai Soba, please use a bidet that summarizes the greetings from the staff, the characteristics of soba making, and the Fuji family. If you have any questions about Oshino Hachikai Soba or want to know more, please feel free to ask the Fuji family staff!
Making soba dough In the Fuji family's Oshino Hakkai soba making experience, each person will make their own dough and noodles. (For example, two people do not make one dough.) When kneading the dough, use the stomach of your hand to put your weight on it and put it together. If white powder remains on the surface of the dough, kneading is insufficient. Knead vigorously until the entire surface of the dough becomes creamy. Especially for children, it may not be enough, so let's proceed in cooperation with adults.
Spread the soba dough When the dough is finished, sprinkle the surface of the dough with flour. When the surface becomes white, use a rolling pin to spread the dough thinly. Let's stretch the shape of the fabric in the image of a square. Stretch the noodles in a square shape as much as possible so that the length of the noodles will be even when cut from anywhere. The noodles are very thin compared to udon noodles, so you can almost extend them to pechanko. When you put your weight on it, the fabric will stretch smoothly, so it is recommended to stretch it while standing on your knees!
Cut the soba dough After spreading the dough thinly, fold the dough so that it fits in the width of the knife. After folding, cut it using a top plate and a kitchen knife. This is the most difficult process. It's hard to cut into small pieces, but once you get used to it, raise the tempo and try to finish it within 10 minutes if possible. The soba noodles are quite thin and difficult to cut, so the staff will show you a sample. It's the most difficult process, but once you've finished cutting it, it's almost time to eat!
Completion of noodles! When the soba noodles are complete, take a picture with the soba. There is also a board with letters for commemorative photography, so please use it if you wish. After taking the picture, we will guide you to the dining room. Water and ice are self-service, so if you need them, please take them from the drink corner at the counter.
Boil the noodles Boil the soba for 2 to 3 minutes. The soup, green onions, nori seaweed, and wasabi will be provided together, so please separate them yourself. We will provide unbroken soup and water for diluting, so please adjust accordingly.
Completion of handmade soba! The handmade soba is completed. The soba noodles will be placed on a large colander and brought to your seat. We will give each person a bamboo steamer, so please use chopsticks, tongs, etc. Please enjoy the difference of noodles unique to handmade experience. We will also take photos of the noodles and customers, so please feel free to ask our staff.
The all-purpose spicy seasoning "Suridane" is recommended! There are many "Yoshida no udon" shops in the Fujiyoshida / Kawaguchiko area. The spicy taste of the specialty called "Suridane" is always present at Yoshida's udon shop. The Fuji family also offers 10 types of original m sushi. You can also sample it, so please enjoy it with hoto. * There are many people who are addicted to the spiciness and umami.
