In addition to observing the starry sky with the naked eye, astronomical observations using a Newton-type reflective telescope with a focal length of 800 mm and a diameter of 200 mm are also performed. What you see, such as stars, moons, and comets will change depending on the conditions of the day. If the weather is good, shooting stars can be seen frequently. Even if you are empty-handed, you can participate with your camera and your own telescope!

This course runs through the Kushiro Wetlands, and starts from Hosooka Station on a wide, calm river, all the way to Iwahoki Sluice Gate, where you can feel the wind blowing through the wetlands as you leisurely descend. Basically, you won't get wet, so it's okay if you come in clothes that are suitable for the climate and easy to move in. *This is a short course.

Mysterious Lake MashuThis is a course where you can see Lake Mashu, Mt. Iou, and Lake Kussharo. Mysterious Lake Mashu is worth a visit. Misty Lake Mashu is also famous (as a song says), but on a clear day the blue of the sky is reflected on the lake's surface, creating a spectacular view. Only Mashu No. 1 Observation Deck is available during the winter. On the way to Lake Mashu, you can also get a feel for the vastness of Hokkaido at Tawadaira, where you can see the horizon in a large panorama. You can eat Genghis Khan at Tawadaira. Kushiro City - Hosooka Observation Deck - Tawadaira - Lake Mashu - Mt. Iou - Sunayu, Kotan Onsen (Lake Kussharo) - Kushiro CityThere is also a route where you can see Kaminokoike Pond, which has recently been included in Akan Mashu National Park.

Information on Kushiro Marsh National Park. This is a course that guides you from the west side of Kushiro Wetland, which was born as the 28th national park, a low-rise marsh with abundant nature that shows Japan's largest "horizontal expanse". At the Kushiro Marsh Observatory with the motif of "Yachibozu", you can see the marshes of the four seasons and live images, and you can see the history and present of the marshes. There is also a shop and a rest house on the 1st floor of the facility. There is also a 2.5km promenade starting from the Kushiro Marsh Observatory. It is a course where you can see the Kushiro Marsh without worrying about the weather.

You can see many red-crowned cranes in eastern Hokkaido around Kushiro, and here you can see the red-crowned cranes vs. food thieves, which you can't see at other feeding sites. Due to bird flu measures, you can no longer see Steller's sea eagles and white-tailed eagles as much as before, but you can see Ezo deer, swans, white-tailed eagles, etc. trying to steal the food from the red-crowned cranes. When they were feeding the cranes with raw fish, this was the only place in the world where you could see the red-crowned cranes vs. eagles fighting over food. (Only during feeding time) There is an admission fee to the Akan International Crane Center (480 yen for adults). I hope that one day I will be able to see the same scene again. Please contact us for details, such as combinations with the Kushiro Station ⇒ Akan International Crane Center ⇒ Kushiro City Tsurui Course.

The water is so clean that you can see the bottom of the pond, which is about 5 meters long. On your return trip, your nature guide will provide easy-to-understand explanations about Hokkaido's nature while you stroll through the pine forest. A nature guide will take you through a world of nature that is far removed from the everyday world. Please enjoy Kaminoko Pond in winter. If you are participating, please arrive at Kiyosato Ihatov Hostel by 11:30. If you use JR, we will pick you up at JR Kiyosatocho Station. Smelt fishing is a fun fishing that can be said to be a "winter tradition" in which a hole is made in the thick ice that covers the surface of the lake with a special drill to catch a beautiful fairy-like smelt under the ice. When it gets cold, you can enjoy fishing while warming up in a dedicated tent, so it won't freeze in the cold. It comes with a set of fishing equipment and a fishing guide, so even beginners can enjoy it with confidence.

This is a tour where you can enjoy fishing while going down the river on a rafting boat. Please try to imagine. Enjoy the exhilarating feeling of riding a raft down the Kushiro River surrounded by magnificent nature. And a powerful fight with a big fish. Traditional mountain stream fishing involves walking along steep mountain paths and making it difficult to reach the fishing spot. However, with a raft boat fishing tour, you don't have to worry about that. We will guide you to the best fishing spots while traveling comfortably on a raft boat. The Kushiro River is one of Japan's best fishing spots, home to many big fish such as rainbow trout, Japanese ito, American trout, and Yamame trout. At points that can only be accessed by raft boat, a once-in-a-lifetime encounter may be waiting for you. You can enjoy the magnificent nature of Kushiro Marsh and the beautiful scenery of each season on a leisurely raft boat.

This course takes you all around the Kushiro Marsh, the 28th national park established and the largest naturally rich low-lying marsh in Japan with the largest horizontal extent. View the Kushiro Marsh from the eastern (western) observation deck, then walk along an unpaved road to the western (eastern) observation deck. If you are confident in your time and stamina, there are also some places you can walk (or climb?) to see, such as the Kottaro Marsh Observation Deck, Sarubo Observation Deck, and Yumegaoka Observation Deck. Along the way, you might encounter red-crowned cranes, Ezo deer, or Ezo red foxes (which appear irregularly).

From Hosooka Observatory (east side), you can see the Kushiro Marsh and the meandering Kushiro River in the Kushiro Marsh, the 28th national park and the largest naturally rich low-lying marsh in Japan with a horizontal spread. The view from Hosooka Observatory, also known as the "Great View," is spectacular, and on a clear day you can see the Akan Mountains. Watching the sunset from Hosooka Observatory has also become popular recently. The untouched Hosooka Observatory is an observation deck that cannot be reached by large tourist buses. There is also a course that combines the Norokko train ride, where you can ride one way through the marsh from Kushiro city to Hosooka Observatory to Kushiro city, and then take a taxi back to see the Kushiro Marsh from a different angle.

We are a group of 5 pax and we had a great walk with Kanako san as our guide. We saw bear claws mark on the tree, bear paws print, deer skull and things we would have miss if we were to walk on our own. A deer suddenly ran towards us and stayed with us during our walk and Kanako San told us it not a good sign as the deer might have been spooked by a bear. It was a beautiful and exciting walk for us. We were fortunate enough to have sunny weather, so we had a clear view all across Lake Mashu from the top of the trail. It was also nice that we saw foxes on the drive there and back.
