For those who prefer to explore and experience the beauty of the mountains over adventure, this trekking/hiking experience is available on snowshoes or snowshoes. We offer four courses. In April, we offer additional courses in addition to the standard ones in search of snow. In addition to walking, we also offer coffee breaks where you can make tables and chairs out of snow. We offer snow sculptures (snowmen), sliding down snowy slopes, and nature observation. We also offer forest and tree observation, as well as animal tracks and droppings. (This may not be possible depending on the weather and location.) Please let us know if you would like to observe Japanese serows or other wildlife. We also offer nature observation training experiences for students during the snowy season. Groups of eight or more people must contact us two weeks in advance. Repeat visitors will be guided to a different location from their previous visit (subject to conditions). When booking, please indicate whether you are a beginner, have done it several times before, or have done it every year. We will guide you to the most suitable location (a location suited to your physical condition, a view on a clear day, or a safe forest area in a blizzard). Repeat customers (individual customers who have experienced the activity one or two years ago) will receive a small gift on the day of the experience. Please contact us. Lunch is required for the one-day snowshoe/snowshoe hike. Depending on the course, weather, and number of participants, the local guide may or may not be able to prepare lunch. While snowshoe tours are popular, snowjiks are actually easier to walk on. In Japan, we also have claw-shaped snowjiks (not used on tours). A must-have accessory in Japan's snowy regions is simply "amazing." For repeat visitors, we will guide you to a different location than your last time. Shinano Discovery's snowshoeing tour. Enjoy a snowshoeing experience through the beautiful snow-covered forests of the Togakushi Shrine Okusha and the Kurohime Plateau. In the silence, you'll hear the sound of your footsteps and breathing, and the footprints of rabbits and foxes. In winter, when everything is covered in snow, you can roam freely through the forest, even exploring the giant trees that are only accessible during this season. A mountain guide certified by the Japan Mountain Guides Association will guide you safely and enjoyably through the winter forest. English guides are also available! ★What is a fat bike? It is a mountain bike that evolved for the purpose of riding on snow. On this tour, you will be cycling along snow-white ski slopes. There is no such thing as ``slipping or brake failure'' that everyone tends to worry about! The reason for this is that the tire width is about 12cm, which means it has a large footprint on the snow, and it is equipped with a disc brake, which is the same system as a car. Our fat bikes are stocked with popular models from top bicycle manufacturers, and are maintained in good condition by our guides who are qualified bicycle safety mechanics. We have 20 inches for children who are over 130cm tall, 24 inches for juniors, and 26 inches for adults. You can also invite your family and friends to participate. On this tour, a dedicated guide will accompany you and carefully explain how to run and play, so even first-timers can feel at ease! There is a warm rest house and restrooms nearby, so children can participate with peace of mind.

A mountaineering guide certified by the Japan Mountain Guide Association will guide you through the winter forest in a fun and safe way. We accept reservations for winter smelt hole fishing at Lake Nakatsuna upon request, but please note that hole fishing may not be available at certain times. The opening of the winter smelt hole fishing season at Lake Nakatsuna depends on the weather and smelt resources. The season was closed in 2025, 2024, and 2023. The season was opened in 2022, but closed in 2021. This area is a cold region with heavy snowfall. When there is a lot of snow, the snow acts as a barrier and prevents true ice from forming. Although snow and ice form, they cannot support a person's weight. Hole fishing at Lake Nakatsuna is available from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM (2026 dates are yet to be determined). We offer a winter smelt hole fishing set with a tempura rental and a winter smelt hole fishing set. The Winter Lake Nakatsuna Smelt Hole Fishing Set + Tempura Set Rental is a recommended plan for those who want to casually enjoy smelt fishing and tempura!
