During the experience, charcoal cutting, tamaheshi, tsutsubokashi, forging, unbending, fire making, soil placement, quenching, and blacksmith sharpening will be performed. The sword will then be registered and sharpened at a later date, and will be shipped to your home along with a registration certificate. Spend a full day creating a kozuka — a small decorative utility blade that was once concealed in the scabbard of a Japanese sword. The material used is the same as that used in real Japanese swords & tamahagane, the highest-grade steel in the world. During the experience, you will make a clay base (tsuchi-dai), inscribe a blade crest (yasurime), attach the blade, carve your name onto it, craft a kozuka case, and sharpen the blade to complete the piece. Our studio is the only place where you can experience both making a kozuka and sharpening it yourself. You will learn the Japanese sword-making process through hands-on work. Striking and shaping iron, and seeing the wave-like patterns emerge, is something you cannot fully understand until you try it yourself — making this a truly valuable learning experience. The experience is tailored to each participant’s ability, so minors and women are also welcome — there’s no need to worry. You are welcome to take photos and videos during the process! This is a hands-on rosary experience. This is a simple rosary designed for a wide range of uses. You'll combine wooden beads and precious stones (crystal, jade, etc.), thread them onto a string, braid the string yourself, choose a tassel, and attach it yourself. You'll create a one-of-a-kind rosary to take home. Take this opportunity to create a rosary that can be used for various purposes, such as for yourself or as a souvenir for your family. It will look elegant when you take it out of your bag and pray at a temple or other shrine during your trip to Kyoto. A combination of wooden beads and stones costs 5,000-6,000 yen; a rosary made entirely of precious stones costs 7,000-12,000 yen. Twisted tassels are available as an optional extra (2,000 yen).
