Plan description

This experience allows you to fully enjoy the blessings of the Shirakami Mountains, a natural world heritage site, at the foot of the mountain. You will explore places such as Mitokama, a beautiful valley formed by the Mase River, which originates in the Shirakami Mountains. You will experience making soba noodles using water from the Shirakami Mountains. Please come empty-handed. *Please let us know in advance if you have food allergies (to buckwheat or wheat). ~Schedule~ 10:00 Meet at the Hatahatakan parking lot (1 minute walk from JR Akita Shirakami Station) 10:30-11:30 Stroll around Mitokama 11:45-14:00 Soba making experience and lunch 14:15-15:00 Visit to Shirabaku Shrine and Shikanoura Observatory 15:00 (disband)

Sanjukama and Shirataki Shrine

Sanjukama is a famous spot for the Mase Gorge, which originates from the Shirakami Mountains. Shirabaku Shrine, which was also visited by the Edo period travel writer Sugae Masumi, is a rare shrine in Japan with a magnificent waterfall in its sacred grounds.

Soba making experience

"Honkan Soba" is a local specialty of the Motodate area of Hachimantai Town, and is characterized by its unique sweetness and firmness. After the experience, you can eat the exceptional soba that you have made.

Shikanoura Observatory

The breathtaking beauty of the Sea of Japan as seen from the observation deck makes it a photogenic spot. It shows different faces depending on the season, weather, and temperature.
