Plan description

"Wild Bird Forest Nature Watching" is Picchio's signature tour. While walking through "Karuizawa Wild Bird Forest", you can observe seasonal creatures. The walking distance is just under 2 kilometers. Anyone can enjoy it, from small children to the elderly.

Picchio's most indulgent tour featuring flowers, insects and birds

The tour takes place in the Karuizawa Wild Bird Forest. But it's not just birds that live there. In the forest, flowers bloom with the seasons, insects visit, wild birds chirp, and squirrels and foxes wander about. It's a variety box tour where you can observe the "most interesting creatures" that are unique to each day and time.

Things that were invisible become visible

The footprints of a chamois left on an animal trail. A walnut shell nibbled by a squirrel. The faint sound of a small bird walking on fallen leaves. Picchio's staff immediately notices the signs and traces of creatures that would normally go unnoticed. The forest is brimming with the presence of creatures. If you walk with us, you will see things you have never seen before.

It's important to ask "why?" and "how?"

On Picchio's tours, you won't just learn the names of animals and plants. You'll also learn about the mysterious ecology hidden in the appearance and behavior of living creatures. Matters require attention	Children of elementary school age or younger must be accompanied by a guardian. The walking distance is approximately 2 km. As the course is unpaved, strollers and wheelchairs cannot be used. Children under 3 years old can accompany the child (free of charge), but many children are carried on the way.

If you arrive by car

Approximately 25 minutes from the Usui Karuizawa IC on the Joshinetsu Expressway Approximately 25 minutes from the Komoro IC on the Joshinetsu Expressway via the Asama Sun Line Karuizawa's roads are very congested during Golden Week, summer, autumn weekends, etc. Please allow yourself plenty of time when visiting. Set your car navigation system to "2148 Nagakura, Karuizawa-machi, Kitasaku-gun, Nagano Prefecture." Picchio does not have its own parking lot. Please use the paid parking lots in the Hoshino area. The nearest parking lot is the Hoshino Area P1 Parking Lot next to the Sonmin Shokudo, and it is about a 5-minute walk from Picchio. Parking: 250 cars, large buses: not allowed

If you arrive by train

Get off at Nakakaruizawa Station (one stop, about 4 minutes from Karuizawa Station) and walk for about 30 minutes.

If you arrive by other means of transportation

From Karuizawa Station, take the bus bound for Manza Bus Terminal or Karuizawa Office, get off at the "Hoshino Onsen Tombo no Yu" bus stop, and walk for 13 minutes.
