[Characteristics of Lake Sapporo] Lake Sapporo was created in 1989 when the Jozankei Dam dammed the Otaru-nai River. Upstream of the dam is a scenic drive route that passes through Sapporo Kokusai Ski Resort, Asari Pass, Asarigawa Onsen and leads to Otaru city.
