Lake Toro is the largest lake in Japan's largest wetland, the Kushiro Marsh National Park. Fully frozen lakes, ice-covered trees and snow during the harsh winter months, and a climate that can drop below -20 degrees. Silence and natural darkness created by an environment with almost no structures. Wild birds classified as endangered species/special natural monuments and other Ezo flora and fauna that visit during the winter. In winter, when the air is clear, the sight of the snow-covered wetland illuminated by the moonlit night and the starry sky is breathtakingly beautiful.
The cheese and beef that Shibecha Town, one of Japan's leading dairy towns, is proud of, as well as Hokkaido vegetables such as potatoes and onions, go perfectly with cheese fondue. Enjoy fusion dishes such as meatballs made with minced meat using the Ainu cooking method, titatapu, and imoshito (potato dumplings), which are familiar to Ainu cuisine, dipped in Hokkaido cheese instead of ohau (hot pot).
