You can experience calligraphy, a traditional Japanese culture, using real tools. Unlike the calligraphy sets you can buy at shopping malls or schools, we use calligraphy tools procured from traditional calligraphy shops, so it's perfect for those who want to get a taste of the real thing and Japanese culture. This plan will be conducted in Japanese. This is for international students to improve their Japanese and to have more communication with their host families and companions who understand Japanese. (You can bring up to 4 companions with each application for free.) Most calligraphy experiences usually take 60 to 90 minutes, but the JanDara calligraphy experience takes 120 minutes. You can enjoy the experience and communicate with Japanese people, not just "written with a brush". We will rent Ota Sangyo Plaza PiO, which is about 10 minutes from Haneda Airport, Shinagawa, and Yokohama, and a 3-minute walk from the station. This is a spacious 40 tatami Japanese-style room that can accommodate up to 54 people, where you can sit in a sitting position or sit on a horigotatsu (horizontal kotatsu) and do calligraphy with your feet down. It is quite difficult to enjoy this atmosphere at home or school. When deciding on the characters to write on the colored paper, it's a great way to make a Japanese name together while teaching the meaning of the Japanese word! At the end of the experience, you will eat Japanese sweets. You can take the completed work home with you. Not only that, you can scan your work and hand it over as data, so you can post it on SNS, make a record, make an announcement, or create materials. Since the data remains at hand, you can do something wonderful, such as giving a T-shirt or mug with the characters printed on it, years later!
The plan is designed for international students, which is rare in Japan, and will be conducted in Japanese. This is because we believe that communication between international students and their companions is also important. JanDara is probably the only place where you can bring up to 4 people for free. (Please let me know if I'm wrong) It's nice to be able to come with my host family.
Can be reserved for 4 or more international students. Even if there are 4 international students and 4 accompanying people, there will be a total of 20 people. If you have enough people, you can also invite teachers from your school. It's a very luxurious experience to be able to reserve it for just your group.
You can take home your work drawn on colored paper! It can also be scanned and delivered as data. If you upload your cool work on SNS, it will be liked! It doesn't stop. Since the data remains in a clean state, it can be easily used for presentations and bulletin boards at schools and companies. Souvenirs from overseas trips tend to end up in the back of the room, but if you have the data on your smartphone, you can easily look back at them!

Plan attractions
You can have a real experience! You can use a spacious Japanese-style room. It is also possible to rent it out! The tools used are not plastic inkstones, but real inkstones. Instead of using ink, start by doing the ink. Of course, other tools such as brushes are also carefully selected. ※The photograph is an image.
Cool characters, characters that have meaning for that person! You can freely decide the characters to write on the colored paper. We have prepared several samples for you to choose from. The most popular ones are the names of yourself, your family and friends written in kanji. There are several variations of the same name, so you can refer to the Japanese meaning and choose the one that best suits the person's image. ※The photograph is an image.
I dare to proceed in Japanese! It's very difficult to convey Japanese traditional culture in another language, but the distance between you and the international student will be shortened at once! ※The photograph is an image.
Time schedule
Learn about the history and culture of calligraphy! Learn the basics! (20 min) First of all, I will tell you what calligraphy is, its history and culture. After that, I will explain the names of calligraphy tools and how to use them. Finally, I will explain the composition of characters (kanji, katakana, and hiragana). I will also explain the basic movement of the brush while practicing. ※The photograph is an image.
Think about the characters you want to write and practice them (30 minutes) After knowing the origin of the character, let's think about the character you want to write. Your favorite words such as "love" and "peace", food names, and place names are also good. It is also popular to write your name and family name in kanji. First of all, we will get used to writing with a brush on practice paper and Japanese paper using water and ink. Once you get used to it, practice the actual characters so that you can write them well. ※The photograph is an image.
After calming down while applying ink, it's time for the real thing! (40 minutes) It's finally time for the real thing. Before the performance, let's do the actual sumi ink yourself to unify your mind. The sounds, smells, and the sensation of applying ink sharpen your five senses and calm your mind. There is only one actual copy. Concentrate on writing. ※The photograph is an image.
Let's eat Japanese sweets and chat (10 minutes) After releasing your stress, relax and enjoy some Japanese sweets. ※The photograph is an image.
Work, data delivery (5 minutes) You can take the completed work home with you. You can also scan it neatly and hand over the data on the spot. ※The photograph is an image.
