Plan description

In Tsuwano, which is famous for tea, Shusuien has been running a tea garden for four generations. In 2021, the “Tea Terrace” was born in the tea plantation of Shusuien. In this plan, Mr. Kenshiro Tanaka, the 4th generation owner of Shusuien, will teach you how to make delicious sencha directly on the tea terrace. Spend a relaxing 90 minutes enjoying tea and Japanese sweets while gazing at Mt. Aono, the symbol of Tsuwano, and the tea fields.

~Guide~ Shusuien 4th Generation Kenshiro Tanaka

Born in Tsuwano and raised in Tsuwano. After studying tea cultivation in Shizuoka Prefecture, he returned to his hometown after the 2011 earthquake, and became the representative of Mamecha no Shusuien. While cherishing the inheritance from the previous generation, we are also energetically working on new initiatives that meet the needs of the times, such as producing bean tea, developing original blended tea with local high school students, and constructing a tea terrace.

プランの魅力 A tea terrace born from the words, "It would be great if you could drink tea here." の画像

A tea terrace born from the words, "It would be great if you could drink tea here." When I was having a meeting with Yu-na at Shusuien, I took a walk outside to see if there was a spot where I could have tea outdoors. In front of the Shusuien store, there is a tea plantation, and beyond that stands majestic Mt. Aono, a symbol of Tsuwano townspeople and a national scenic spot. At the foot of Mt. Aono is the Rokugo district, where tea fields and azaleas spread. In May, as many as 100 carp streamers are raised, and the district attracts many visitors, but the scenic beauty of the four seasons has been preserved by the locals who have inherited the land care and carp streamer activities. Treasure. While looking at such a scene, someone said, "It would be great if you could drink tea in this tea plantation...". A few months later, the tea terrace was completed. I made it with momentum and it ended up being twice as big as expected. The tea terrace was born from the desire to make the most of the local scenery, even if it means clearing up a part of the precious tea plantation.

プランの魅力 Tsuwano, where the culture of food and medicine has taken root. Is the root of it in "bean tea"? ! の画像

Tsuwano, where the culture of food and medicine has taken root. Is the root of it in "bean tea"? ! Tsuwano is blessed with abundant nature, such as the Takatsu River, the clearest stream in Japan, and the mountains of the Chugoku Mountains. People have led healthy lives by eating seasonal ingredients. This idea is called ``medicine and food is the same source,'' and the prevention and treatment of illness through daily diet has been attracting attention in recent years. (There is even a restaurant in Tsuwano with the theme of medicine and food being the same source.) In fact, the symbol of this may be the soybean tea grown at Shusuien. Made from a plant called kawaraketsumei, this bean tea is characterized by its fragrant aroma and mellow taste. Green tea is said to have come from China, but bean tea is thought to have grown naturally in this area since ancient times. The name Mamecha comes from the Tsuwano dialect, which means to become healthy. Let's take care of your body with nutritious non-caffeine "Japanese herbs" that are loved by the people of Tsuwano.

プランの魅力 Is the bond of relatives also a spice? ! Marriage of sencha and Japanese sweets の画像

Is the bond of relatives also a spice? ! Marriage of sencha and Japanese sweets The taste of "Sanshodo", which has run a Japanese confectionery shop in Tsuwano for three generations, is very popular not only with tourists but also with locals. We have prepared sweets selected by Mr. Shiro Ken at Sanshodo to match the sencha brewed in this plan. To tell the truth, the current store manager of Sanshodo and Mr. Kenshiro are related to each other? Enjoy the perfect combination of tea and Japanese sweets, the marriage of the two flavors that have supported Tsuwano's industry.
