Plan description

This is an authentic tea ceremony experience offered at a 1000-year-old tea room of the Daisho-in.
The tea room is very small, only 3 tatami mats in size and with no lights as it was built in accordance with a formal planning and construction.
Arrangements of rooms and design, building materials have all been kept from the time it was first built, so simply to see or sit in this tea room can be a valuable experience.

Hanging scroll and flowers displayed in tokonoma, tea tools including kettle and bowls.
Sweets, tea, an instructor wearing kimono, tea room manners to show respect to the guests.
This little space is packed with traditional necessities of life: food, clothing and shelter.
Enjoy an authentic tea ceremony in a tranquil garden.

※English guide book「Daihonzan Daisho-in Temple of Miyajima Misen」will be presented.
※English speaking guide is available.

A special time in the tea room of Miyajima Misen Daisho-in Temple

The 1,000-year-old tea room of Daisho-in is a building that respects tradition. Please enjoy a special time where you can feel history and tradition in an ancient Japanese tea room. ★Lecturer is Mr. Sousei Iwamoto, professor of Urasenke who is familiar with Daishoin Temple. ★To commemorate the experience, you will receive one of the popular "magnets" with a picture of Itsukushima Shrine as a souvenir. Please come by all means.

① Gathering: Please gather 15 minutes before. ② I will explain how to enter the tea room and how to sit down. ③ Have some sweets. * I will explain how to take and cut. ④ Watch the teacher's tea ceremony. ⑤Enjoy matcha while listening to explanations on how to drink matcha and how to hold a teacup. * Chat with the lecturer while explaining the hanging scroll and tea utensils. I will also answer questions and more. ⑥ Take a commemorative photo and end / Dissolution
