When dyed with natural materials, the appearance of color changes depending on various conditions such as temperature and time. Depending on the location, it may be light or dark, but it may not be exactly the same even if it is dyed in the same way. You may be worried about unevenness compared to ordinary clothes that are dyed beautifully and evenly, but I hope you will enjoy the unique and original color that is unique in the world. The beautiful colors of nature created by the earth not only look good, but also make you feel comfortable to wear.
Our shop also operates a community space with rescued cats. Customers who participate in the dyeing experience can interact with the cats during the experience. We have four rescued cats: Takana Sensei, our mascot cat; Milk Yamaoka, who is only a few months old; Notre Dame Shishamo, who is friendly with everyone; and David Uni, the only white cat. A portion of the sales made through these cats will be used for cat rescue activities.
We will also give you an aftercare manual after you take home your dyed clothes. Don't worry, we have detailed information on how to choose, how to dry, etc. We also sell dyes (indigo and ink) for re-dying at our store. You can re-dye it yourself to create a new pattern and color.

Time schedule
Arrive at the venue Please arrive 5 minutes before your reservation for the indigo dyeing experience. The reception will be at our sister store Fujiya, located across from the experience location. Once you arrive, please enter the store and complete the reception there first. Once the reception is complete, a staff member will guide you.
Explanation of indigo dyeing First, the staff will give you a brief greeting and explain about the indigo dyeing experience. At our indigo dyeing experience, we hope you will not only dye your clothes and take them home, but also spend time learning about the history of indigo, an ancient Japanese dye, and how to dye it.
Dye selection In our dyeing experience, we mainly use indigo, but we also have ink. Please choose your preferred dye. Ink dyeing is also a dye unique to Japan, so it is very popular with our customers. Customers who make reservations for multiple people can choose their own dye.
Choosing how to dye Next, we decide on the "dyeing method." Our experienced staff will consult with the customer to decide on the dyeing method, which may include spiral tie-dyeing, murakumo dyeing, cylindrical tie-dyeing, rubber band tie-dyeing, etc. It is not necessary to use just one dyeing method, but it is also possible to combine several dyeing methods.
tie a t-shirt After wetting the T-shirt with water to help the dye penetrate, tie the garment using string, rubber, or a rolling pin. At this time, if you tie it loosely, the dye will easily penetrate into the inside and it will be difficult to create a pattern. It is a relatively strenuous task, so we recommend that children work with an adult.
soak in staining solution After tying the clothes securely with string or rubber bands, soak them in the dye solution. There is a large container containing dyeing solution, and we will put your clothes in there. The time for soaking indigo and ink differs, with indigo being soaked for a few minutes and ink for about 10 minutes. Please wait while imagining what kind of pattern and color it will be.
wash away When the time is up, remove all strings and rubber bands and wash off any excess dye with water. If you rinse too much or only a little, the pattern may not come out properly. After rinsing, wring out the clothes to thoroughly dehydrate them.
Completion of indigo dyeing Let's spread out the dehydrated clothes. Clothes with a pattern that is unique in the world have been completed. Some items may turn out exactly as you imagined, while others may be dyed a little differently than you imagined. In any case, it is a customer's original design.
photography Customers will each bring their own clothes and take a commemorative photo. An indigo dyeing experience using Mt. Fuji's underground water at the foot of Mt. Fuji is the perfect memory of your trip to Yamanashi. For children, this is a great way to discover and experience things, and for adults, it is sure to be a fun and exciting time that brings them back to their childhood.
lastly Finally, we will give you a clothing aftercare manual. It contains information on how to care for and wash your clothes at home. We also sell indigo and ink dyes for re-dyeing at the store. Please feel free to use this service to re-dye clothes that have faded.
