It is a snowshoe experience tour of Shina Discovery. Take a walk around the inner shrine of Togakushi Shrine and the beautiful snow-covered forest of Kurohime Kogen wearing snowshoes. The sound of my footsteps and breathing as I step on the snow in the silence, and the footprints of rabbits and foxes that remain on the snow surface. In winter, when everything is covered with snow, you can freely walk around in the forest, and you can also take a walk in the forest of giant trees that can only be reached during this time. A mountaineering guide certified by the Japan Mountain Guide Association will guide you through the winter forest in a fun and safe way. A guide in English is also available! ～ Flow of the day ～ 8:30 Meet at Kurohime Station Meet at Kurohime Station. Take the guided shuttle car to the tour start point. 9:30 Tour start Start walking around Togakushi Forest Botanical Garden. First of all, a lecture on how to wear snowshoes and how to use poles. 11:00 A short break at Kagamiike The spectacular Kagamiike turns into a vast snowfield during the winter. Walk on the frozen pond and enjoy the panoramic view of the Togakushi mountain range. (Depending on the condition of the pond) 12:15 Togakushi soba lunch Lunch at a soba restaurant near the approach to Okusha. 13:30 Togakushi Okusha Cedar Avenue of Nikko The 400-year-old cedar avenue and Zuijinmon in snow are fantastic and refreshing. Then take a walk through the forest of giant trees. 15:30 Tour end The guide shuttle car will return to the meeting place and will be disbanded.
When you hear the word "winter forest", the leaves of the trees may fall and you may feel lonely. But that's not the case. There are many surprises and discoveries in the winter forest, such as chasing animal footprints, enjoying the snow art created by the wind, and observing the winter buds of trees and animal footprints! And even beginners can easily handle snowshoes that can walk around freely on such snow. Shina Discovery uses MSR's Denaria Cent.
It will be decided according to the conditions of the day, mainly in the mountains of Kita Shinetsu such as Nabekurayama, Kurohimeyama, and Myokoyama, including the area around Togakushi Shrine Okusha and Mt. Madarao. If you have a request, we will consider it, so please feel free to contact us.
During the Shina Discovery tour, your guide will take a photo of you during the tour and give it as a memory of your trip after the tour. (Only for those who wish)

Plan attractions
Kagamiike and Togakushi mountain range A special experience only during the period of complete freezing. Snow falls on the frozen mirror pond, which turns into a heavy snowfield. Behind it is the divine Togakushi mountain range covered with pure white snow. If the weather is nice, here is a delicious tea time
400-year-old Okusha cedar trees The approach to Togakushi Okusha in winter is full of mysterious atmosphere with few people.
Giant tree forest In winter, when all the trails and shrubs are buried under the snow, you can go deep into the forest, which you can't normally go to. Explore a forest of giant trees that can only be visited in winter.
Animal tracking The snow is dotted with footprints of many animals. Is this footprint a fox? Is it an antelope? If you look up overhead, you may also find a bear shelf. Enjoy animal tracking in the winter snow forest.
MSR snowshoes Shina's Discovery tour uses MSR Denali Ascent. Lightweight, equipped with a heel lifter and easy to climb. MSR shifts are available for children and people with small feet.
