Plan description

Finally open the book! The world of Kutani ware, which has been closed to the public, is a stand-alone world. Miyaso Ceramics Co., Ltd. has been making only figurines for over 100 years, even in the work of the potters who make the base of Kutani ware. The existence of molds is also indispensable in order to continue to elaborately create figurines of complex shapes. At Miyaso Ceramics, there is a stationary archive that has been accumulated in the warehouse for 100 years, along with the technique of making figurines. In this program, such a stationary world will be unveiled for the first time in Japan. We will also demonstrate the manufacturing process "molding" that actually uses a mold. * For foreign nationals: Information on the day will be in Japanese only.

A gallery lined with white figurines

At the entrance of Miyaso Ceramics, there is a gallery where works made in this kiln are lined up. What is a little different from other Kutani ware galleries is that most of them are white figurines. You can slowly see the three-dimensional and dynamic figurines before they are painted.

Tour the molding of ornaments

During the workshop tour, not only will you be guided by Mr. Yoshihiro Miyamoto, the 5th generation owner, but you will also be able to see a demonstration of molding technology that actually uses the mold. Please actually see and feel the impression that the figurine comes out when you put clay or slurry in the mold and remove the mold.

A stationary type that sees the light of day for the first time

The second floor of the workshop has been a plaster-shaped storage space for figurines for more than 100 years since the founding of Miyamoto Ceramics Co., Ltd., the predecessor of Miyaso Ceramics Co., Ltd. in 1918. Until now, we haven't shown it to general business customers, but this time it's specially released for the first time! There are many molds made by master craftsmen that can no longer be made, and it is worth a look.

Dress code - Must bring items	Since we manufacture products using soil, they may adhere to clothes. If you are interested, please wear clothes that you don't mind getting dirty.

Matters require attention	There are steep stairs going up and down to the second floor of the workshop. If you are not confident in your legs, you may not be able to visit. There are steps in the workshop, so please be careful of your feet. If there are 5 or more participants, we will divide them into 2 groups for the tour.
Other notifications	As a souvenir, we will give you a "cat to invite" as a souvenir. Choose the one you like from the cats that have raised their "right hand to call money" or "left hand to call people".
