This is a kayaking adventure at Lake Chuzenji in Oku-Nikko, one of Japan's best places to see autumn foliage! Enjoy the beautiful autumn foliage of broadleaf trees from the lake, get up close to the giant Mizunara oak "Mother Tree," and head a little further out to sea to admire the majestic 2,486m-high Mount Nantai. Come enjoy kayaking at Lake Chuzenji, a destination every kayaking enthusiast dreams of! Accessible from the Tokyo metropolitan area, this adventure is perfect for beginners. The stable kayaks minimize the risk of capsizing, making kayaking safe and enjoyable for everyone, from small children to seniors. Why not try kayaking with your family, partner, or friends?

This is a kayaking adventure project at Lake Chuzenji in Oku-Nikko, one of Japan's best spots for viewing autumn leaves.

Once you get used to kayaking, you will be impressed if you go a little offshore and look at the magnificent Mt. Nantai, one of the best spots for autumn leaves in Japan.

See the beautiful autumn leaves of broad-leaved trees from the surface of the lake, take a commemorative photo with the male figure of Mt. Nantai in the background, and enjoy nature!

Once you've mastered the kayak, you can enjoy a leisurely kayak adventure along the lakeshore, surrounded by autumn leaves. Relax and unwind in the leisurely flow of time in Oku-Nikko and the autumn leaves that spread across the lake.

If you arrive by car

From the Tohoku Expressway Utsunomiya IC, take the Nikko Utsunomiya Road and get off at Nikko Kiyotaki IC. Take National Route 120 towards Lake Chuzenji, climbing Irohazaka for about 4km with the lake on your left. From Kiyotaki IC, it takes about 30 minutes under normal circumstances. Use the Tohoku Expressway: from Urawa IC to Imaichi IC, it takes about 90 minutes (about 129km). *The times are only a guide. The roads are very congested in autumn. Please allow yourself plenty of time. If searching using a car navigation system, search for "Chuzenji Kanaya Hotel." Depending on the car navigation system, searching by address may take you to a different location.

If you arrive by train

Please take the Tobu bus from Tobu and JR Nikko Station. From Nikko Station, take the bus bound for Yumoto Onsen for about an hour, get off at the "Chuzenji Kanaya Hotel" bus stop, and the bus is located in the forest on the right side of the road. *Roads can be very congested in autumn. Public buses may not always run according to the timetable, so please allow yourself plenty of time.
