✔Enjoy a fishing experience on a boat with a local fisherman

Meet at Higashi-Shiogama Station on the JR Senseki Line.
Local fisherman Sakurai-san will be waiting to pick you up (5 min drive to guesthouse)!

After checking-in to the seaside guesthouse get ready to get out on the water!
Spend a couple of hours on the fishing boat with Sakurai-san, experiencing local fishing activities like :
Net-fishing for Japanese blue crab
Drive-in net fishing experience
(other fishing experiences may be available with prior consultation)

Embrace your inner adventurer and head to a deserted island in the Rifu area of Matsushima Bay.
Fry-up your fresh catch of the day on a BBQ and wash it down with some beer or local sake.
Sit back, relax and enjoy the rare chance to take-in night views of Matsushima Bay from the water.

**Optional extra (at 5000 yen per person)**
Hop on another local boat and be taken out to a secluded bay for a SUP (Stand Up Paddle-boarding) experience on the calm morning sea.

    Meet at Higashi-Shiogama Station (JR Senseki Line).


    Breakfast at Shiogama Wholesale Fish Market (Nakaoroshi Market). Make your own'Kaisen-don' (Seafood Bowl) by choosing your favorite toppings from the fresh seafood on sale at the market.


    Taxi into the Shiogama town area for a foodie walking tour.


    Foodie Stop 1: Doraemon's favorite sweets'Dorayaki' (sweet pancake filled with red-bean cream) at Shiogama's famous'Kasho Eitaro' store, established over 100 years ago (1909).


    Foodie Stop 2: Sake tasting at Urakasumi Sake Brewery. Taste and compare three different local sakes from one of Miyagi Prefectures finest breweries.


    Foodie Stop 3:'Kamaboko' fishcake from local specialty store'Abehei Kamaboko'. Here we will pick up some freshly made fish-cakes and save them for pairing with sake at Foodie Stop 4!


    11:10 Visit the mysterious'Okama-jinja' Shrine, with ancient salt pots that can predict disasters!


    Foodie Stop 4: More sake tasting at'Kumakyu' local liquour store. Here you can pair your tasty Kamaboko fishcake with a well-matched sake!


    Foodie Stop 5:'Five-coloured Dango' (sweet rice dumplings)


    Foodie Stop 6: Mini-gelato from'Ota-ya' Miso and Soy Sauce specialty store (since 1845). Yep, that's right! Choose from Shiogama sea-salt or miso flavoured gelato for a salty-sweet surprise!


    Foodie Stop 7: Green Tea tasting with a twist at'Yabe-en' tea shop. Learn new ways to enjoy various varieties of green tea from tea-master-come-cocktail-extraordinaire Yabe-san.


    Return to Hon-Shiogama Station (JR Senseki Line). End of tour.
