Located an hour away from Tokyo, the Sakura city was once a castle town with rich history.
During the Edo period, about 400 years ago the samurai were a class of highly skilled warriors and had both military and political power over Japan.

Once belonged to one of the samurai clans, the Sakura Castle no longer exists today, but its remains and surrounding former samurai residences are now the city's major sightseeing spots. There is a museum of swords the main weapon and symbol of the samurai.  Along with its rich history the Sakura city boasts beautiful environment and picturesque landscapes untouched since the samurai era. Enjoy strolling around the Sakura Castle Park and feel refreshed.​ ​

・ Tsukamoto Museum: The Tsukamoto Museum is a unique museum that exhibits only swords.・ Makata Shrine: Makata Jinja is the head office of 18 "Makata Jinja" and was the base of worship of the samurai.・ Sakura Samurai Residence: This is one of the largest samurai residences in the Kanto region, and you can visit 3 buildings.

・ Hiyodori-zaka: A path surrounded by quaint bamboo bushes that the samurai used when heading to the castle.・ Castle Toe Park: Sakura Castle Ruins Park is a park located inside the ruins of Sakura Castle.・ National Museum of Japanese History: The National Museum of Japanese History is a nationally run museum located in Jonai-cho, Sakura City, Chiba Prefecture.
