The Shubuto River is a clear stream that flows through the center of Kuromatsunai. From July 1st to September 15th, you can enjoy natural sweetfish fishing that lives only in southern Hokkaido in Hokkaido. It's a traditional Japanese fishing method called "friend fishing", and it's difficult, but that's why it's worth the challenge!
Ayu fishing requires many kinds of tools and is expensive, so it is difficult to start, but since there are rental rods and nets, you can challenge empty-handed here. The guide will support you with knowledge and techniques related to ayu fishing, such as how to attach and take in decoy ayu, where to buy recreational fishing tickets and decoy ayu, so even if it is your first time, it is okay.
Shubuto River sweetfish has a good reputation for its deliciousness, such as the Grand Prix at the 19th (2016) tournament of the "Clear Stream Touring Ayukai" held in Kochi Prefecture every year, and the quasi-grand prix at the 22nd tournament. ..
In addition, in order to avoid genetic disturbance, we have stopped the release of farmed sweetfish from Honshu since 2013. Instead of releasing fish, we maintain a fishing ground for sweetfish that does not rely on the release of farmed sweetfish, such as improving the spawning ground and releasing larvae that have been artificially hatched from the Ayu of the Shuta River. Ayu, which has a gene adapted to the cold Hokkaido river, is tall and large, and is also popular with anglers.
