Tobiuo is a nostalgic summer taste for the people of Amami Oshima. The flying fish to be laid for egg laying is low in fat and has an elegant and light taste. It is famous for dried eggs and dried overnight, but freshly sashimi is said to be addictive. In the past, there were flying fish nets in each village in Yamato-mura, and fishing was done in groups, but recently it has been unheard of. The fishing method of flying fish is "fish flying rope fishing" and it is a net fishing that drives it into a net using several hundred meters of net and threatening rope. Main production area is Yakushima The Tokara Archipelago is famous, but it is not well known that its birthplace is Yoron Island.

I want to revive old traditional fishing methods. .

In the Kuninao village whole experience, we are working on the revival of flying fish rope fishing.
