・ We will make a kaleidoscope that feels like Okinawa using Bingata cloth and Ryukyu glass.・ Empty-handed participation is OK. Even children can easily enjoy it.・ Approximately 30 minutes by car from downtown Naha. It is also recommended for a trip to Okinawa on a rainy day. We will make a kaleidoscope that is full of Okinawan character. ★ About 30 minutes by car to the airport and Naha city ★ The nature experience school is about 30 minutes by car from the airport and Naha city. You can enjoy it in your spare time on the day you arrive in Okinawa, or just before you board the return flight. You can also come by local bus.
Bingata cloth is used for the kaleidoscope. Bingata is one of Okinawa's representative traditional crafts. Okinawan dyeing cultivated with its own natural climate and dyeing technology, it has been popular among aristocrats since the Ryukyu Kingdom era. The vibrant colors and the flower petals drawn on the cloth make you feel like a tropical country.
Put Ryukyu glass in the kaleidoscope. Ryukyu glass is made by recycling colorful bottles made in the United States that were thrown away in Okinawa after the war. It features a variety of shades such as red and blue, and some of these colorful pieces of glass are used in kaleidoscopes.
Not only is it easy for children to make, but the completed kaleidoscope can be enjoyed afterwards. A kaleidoscope with a bright bingata pattern makes you feel like Okinawa when you put it in your room. No need to bring anything! Recommended for traveling to Okinawa on rainy days.
