Make your own cute glass beads

"Tombodama" are glass beads with holes and decorated with various patterns made from colored glass. The glass is melted over the flame of a burner and shaped. Because glass beads have holes just like beads, their appeal is that they can be fashioned into any item you like, such as accessories like necklaces and earrings or straps. It's also nice to create works that match the season, such as crystal-clear glass beads in spring and summer and chic, deep glass beads in autumn and winter.

Participation is open to children from the second grade of elementary school

Burner work is very simple. Anyone from the second grade of elementary school can participate, and they will be carefully instructed, so even beginners are okay. When elementary school children try it, the guardian will try a few things first. Then they will teach the child, and then the guardian will stand behind them and support them. The support person will not be included in the number of people participating in the experience. Children under 18 years old must come with a guardian. Choose your favorite color from a wide variety of colored glass rods and finish your own glass beads as you like. Since fire is used, we recommend wearing cotton or wool clothes instead of nylon clothes so that your clothes do not melt when they come into contact with hot glass. It is safer to cover your thighs and knees. (It gets hot even in winter, so take off your jacket before working.)
