The Nishikido stable is an emerging sumo room that was founded by former Sekiwake and Mitoizumi in 2002 as a separate house from the Takasago stable. Master Nishikido (former Sekiwake / Mitoizumi) served as an active wrestler for 22 years from 1978, when the Kokugikan was still in Kuramae, to 2000. He was a very popular sumo wrestler who sprinkled a large amount of salt during his active career and was called a salt shaker.
