KUMANO TRAVEL is an international award-winning tourism platform focusing on the preservation and promotion of Japan's ancient Kumano Kodo pilgrimage routes. Kumano TREK is a local guide group dedicated to introducing this sacred landscape to international visitors.

Experience the Kumano Kodo

This ~ 7km section of the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage route is considered the climax part of the trail. There is a diversity of sites and viewpoints culminating at an austere Grand Shrine in Hongu.

Walk with a Local Guide

With your experienced local English-speaking guide you can get a sense of this rich cultural landscape. Learn about the area, have fun and enjoy a safe walk in inspiring natural surroundings.

Possibility to stay in an Isolated Onsen

The night before this tour it is possible to stay in Hongu village which is blessed with hot spring: Yunomine Onsen, Kawayu Onsen and Watarase Onsen, each with authentic accommodations featuring local cuisine.
