[Summary] Learn traditional Tokamachi cuisine from local mothers. Let's not only cook, but also harvest and procure ingredients together, and enjoy a gotsuo = feast using fresh ingredients! [Flow of the day] At 9:00 in the morning, meet the tour conductor and local mothers at a designated place in Tokamachi city. Then head to a local farm or freshly picked vegetable market to procure the freshest ingredients for the day. Once you have finished procuring the ingredients, you will move to the cooking venue and cook while being taught by the instructor's mother. The menu is basically 3 side dishes + rice + miso soup. Because we use seasonal ingredients, you can enjoy the menu up until the day of the event. After the cooking is completed, let's taste the food while chatting with the instructor's mother! (* Please note that we may change our response due to new virus countermeasures.) You may be able to meet a new taste. Around 13:00, we will send you to the dissolution place and the tour will end. *Only Japanese and English are supported.
The Tokamachi and Uonuma areas, which are also heavy snowfall areas in Niigata Prefecture, are characterized by their excellent technology for preserving food for a long period of time. This is because it was closed to snow for nearly five months of the year before the snow removal equipment that covered the city as it is today. And because of the abundant water and temperature difference, rice is still cultivated in many places as a rice-producing area, and the land near the house is used to produce more than enough vegetables to eat at home. There are many homes that are raised. Logistics has been improved and products from all over the country can be eaten anywhere in Japan, but dishes using seasonal ingredients such as freshly picked vegetables and wild plants can only be tasted at that time. is.
We harvest what kind of vegetables are grown and how they are grown while listening to the lecturer's mother and farmers. The taste of dishes made with such freshly picked ingredients is exceptional! Please try it.
The instructors who will teach you are the mothers who live in this area. You can hear various stories such as what kind of life you usually live in this area and how you have been living in this area. You can hear not only food stories but also interesting customs and cultures.
