Plan description

In this guided tour you will take a walk around Shibamata old downtown with traditional atmosphere and visit a dynamic fish market!
The Adachi Market is a great place to see various fresh seafood.
After visiting the fish market we will explore Shibamata area. This area's main features are its beautiful old-fashioned streets and historic buildings such as Yamamoto-tei and Shibamata Taishakuten.

Adachi market off the beaten track

The Adachi market is the only market in Tokyo which specializes in marine products. It is usually less crowded and suitable if you wish to take your time.

The people working in the market are very friendly. You can have a chat with them and enjoy fresh seafood at the cafe.

Shibamata neighborhood with traditional atmosphere

15 minutes by train from Sakai or Senju Ohashi Station.
We walk along the approach and head to Teishunten while watching the bronze statue of Mr. Tatsumi, who is famous for the movie "Man is Hard."
There are many long-established stores such as Japanese sweets, soba, folk art items along the approximately 200m approach to Shibamata Teishen. There is also a river fish restaurant serving dishes such as eel and carp.
In Taishakuten, you can see the magnificent wood carving sculpture gallery and the beautiful Japanese garden from any view.

Japanese-Western Eclectic Architecture - Yamamoto-tei

The Yamamoto-tei was built in a shoin-zukuri style with Western architectural features.

Its Japanese-style garden with beautiful waterfall became highly evaluated overseas.

At the end of the tour, we will walk along the banks of the Edogawa River and watch the Sky Tree.
